A Lantern in the Dark
In a small village in Punjab, twelve-year-old Christina studied under the dim light of a kerosene lamp every night. Her father worked as a daily wage
laborer in the fields, and most days the family struggled just to afford food.
School felt like a distant privilege, not a secure possibility.
When CAP‟s education support team first visited her village, Christina had already missed months of school because her parents could no longer afford
books, uniforms, and basic school needs.
Through CAP‟s Education Support Program, Christina received school supplies, mentorship, and encouragement to continue her studies.
But the greatest change was not only in her education. It was in her confidence.
Today, Christina is back in school and helps younger children in her community learn to read after classes.
Her mother shared:
“Before, she used to hide her notebooks because she felt ashamed. Now she carries them proudly.”
In a place where poverty once silenced dreams, hope began with something as simple as a child being told:
Your future matters.
